CAFRAD was present on June 12th, at the ceremony of the celebration of the 248 th
\nanniversary of the Independence of the United States of America. The celebration was held
\nat the Embassy of the United States in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.
\nFor this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Puneet TALWAR, Ambassador of the United
\nStated in Morocco, gave a speech. He explained the choice of the theme of this year\u2019s
\ncelebration which was \u201cSpace Exploration\u201d. This choice was a reminder of the feats and
\nambitious goals that are the DNA of the United States. It is about the founders\u2019 faith in
\ndemocratic self-governance. The exploration of space today constitutes one of the great
\nscientific challenges of our time.
\nHis Excellency the Ambassador then highlighted the importance of the friendly
\ndiplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America,
\nreminding us of the decision of Sultan Mohammed III, which made Morocco the first country
\nto recognize the new State.
\nFollowing that, Her Excellency Ms. Leila BENALI, Minister of Energy Transition and
\nSustainable Development of Morocco gave a speech, highlighting the importance of the
\nhistoric ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States in various areas: be it in
\nArtificial Intelligence, or in innovations in new technologies to face climate crisis, or in
\ndisseminating the ideas of peace and peaceful cohabitation between different cultures and
\nreligions. She then reminded the public that Morocco and the United States work in close
\ncollaboration on a set of complex issues of common interest, whether in the field of energy,
\ntechnology, economy, security, or diplomacy.
\nThis celebration was hosted by music from the Royal Air Morocco Forces Orchestra,
\nand the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
