Rabat, November 23, 2024 – the CAFRAD delegation, led by the Director General Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI, is warmly received by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed DOUHOUR HERSI, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to the Kingdom of Morocco, who was assisted by Ms. Fayek MOUSSA MOHAMMED, Advisor at the Embassy.

The presentation of CAFRAD’s new vision was subject of exchange and discussion, in particular the ambitious program designed for the year 2025, that includes multidisciplinary training activities on the digital and ecological transition, support for senior civil servants. who wish to integrate African and international organizations, international non-governmental organizations, for greater representativeness of African States in international geopolitics, or the establishment of a database of best practices in terms of administrative management and governance responsible for making better decisions that will lead to the expected results.

His Excellency responded positively to the CAFRAD program, noting the deep reflection that was carried out to achieve this result. However, he revealed that due to CAFRAD’s low presence in East Africa, it is important to work on the visibility of the institution in the aforementioned region, through on-site visits to ministries, as well as the appointment of focal points, and the organization of activities in this region. This idea was warmly welcomed by the CAFRAD delegation.

On another note, His Excellency put forward ideas concerning CAFRAD’s exit from the financial crisis, encouraging staff to undertake advocacy with Member States to convince them of the usefulness of CAFRAD, and to propose concerted solutions for the repayment of debts.

The question of communication always comes back at the heart of the debates with the honorable representatives of the Member States. His Excellency also shared this: he recalled the importance of updating the contact database, and of keeping the contact thread always active, by circulating information regularly in both directions between the CAFRAD and member states.

In addition, His Excellency also recalled the importance of establishing closer contacts between intergovernmental institutions: the AU, the African Regional Economic Communities, or even UNESCO being sister institutions whose practices in terms of resource mobilization can inspire CAFRAD. Inter-institutional cooperation is also useful for intellectual and technical exchanges.
