Change at the head of the African Union Commission (AUC): the Director General of CAFRAD extends his warm congratulations to the new President of the African Union Commission, His Excellency, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, and invites him to make of the development of African skills the priority of his mandate.

On behalf of the Member States and on my own behalf, I would like to extend our warm congratulations to His Excellency Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, the Government and the people of the Republic of Djibouti, on his election as President of the African Union Commission, on Saturday February 15, 2025 during the 38th ordinary session of the Heads of State and Government of the Member States of the Union.

The election of His Excellency Mahamoud Ali Youssouf by a two-thirds majority of the votes, after seven grueling rounds of voting, attests that the confidence placed in him by African Heads of State and Government is the fruit of a well-considered, meritorious decision.

The Director General calls on His Excellency Mahamoud Ali Youssouf to rely on CAFRAD to address the challenges facing Africa and to meet the expectations of Heads of State and Government who have placed their trust in him, as well as African citizens who aspire to a stronger, more inclusive, more resilient and more effective Africa that facilitates the achievement of an “integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa, led by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in world affairs”.

The African Center for Administrative Training and Research for Development (CAFRAD) is a Pan-African intergovernmental organization created in 1962 by African Governments with the support of UNESCO. Its aim is to support the transformation and emergence efforts of African states through capacity development and the modernization of public administration and governance. Its headquarters is in Rabat (Kingdom of Morocco).

CAFRAD is both a Pan-African school of training and application in public administration, diplomacy, management, governance, global security and sustainable development, and a research center on African and international issues from a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective.

It is the leading public service organization that advances the art, science, teaching and practice of public administration and for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

CAFRAD, a leading Center of Excellence, a school of application, production of innovative ideas, actionable knowledge, development of skills and talents serving the implementation of Agenda 2063 of the African Union, the 2030 SDGs of the United Nations and the national development programs of African countries.

 

CAFRAD is the first African Center responsible for promoting South-South scientific cooperation and regional integration in Africa.

CAFRAD is an intergovernmental organization of a scientific, cultural and technical nature, responsible for the public service of training and research and supporting transformations in public action and public innovation.

Since July 9, 2024, CAFRAD has been led by a new Director General in the person of Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI. A Reformer, transformer and specialist in transformational change, transition management, the development of soft skills (soft behavioral skills), soft & smart power, responsible governance and overall organizational performance, who has undertaken to make CAFRAD the main support center for the transformation of Africa and African countries through a process of transformational change. To this end, CAFRAD intends to develop an intelligent, productive and fruitful partnership with the African Union in order to amplify the impacts of its actions on the ground. The Africa we want will be built only through the training and development of skills (hard, soft & smart) of a new generation of African leaders.

The Director General of CAFRAD would like to urge His Excellency Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the AU Commission to make education, training and development of human capital the priority of his mandate, and to provide all his support to CAFRAD in the extension of its activities to all member countries of the African Union.

The African revolution, the construction of a new Africa, is now and it is with CAFRAD!
