Digital Governance for Sustainable Development – APRIL 3RD 2025
Following the successful webinars launched by CAFRAD under the leadership of the new Director-General, Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI is honored to invite you to the third session of the CAFRAD webinar series, scheduled for Thursday, April 3rd, 2025, starting at 1 p.m., Morocco time.
This important meeting will focus on the theme “Digital Governance for Sustainable Development” CAFRAD will be honored to welcome Dr. Luis Barbosa, Deputy Director of UNU EGOV as the key speaker, accompanied by Dr. Saleem Zoughbi, Senior Associate Expert of UNU EGOV. Dr. Barbosa, in his role at UNU-EGOV, has worked on various consultancy and development projects with organizations like UNDP, UM ECA, and UNESCO. He played a key role in creating National Strategies for Digital Governance/Transformation in Cape Verde, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau. Recently, he helped establish Digital Governance Forums in West Africa (Banjul, 2023) and East and South Africa (Pretoria, 2024), fostering collaboration among countries and international agencies on digital governance.
Digital governance for sustainable development involves using digital technologies to improve government operations, service delivery, and foster transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement. For African administrations, it is essential in transforming public sector management by enabling efficient resource allocation, data-driven decision-making and better communication between governments and citizens. As the digital landscape evolves, embracing digital governance is crucial for African countries to meet sustainable development goals, enhance public services, and drive economic growth. It also supports the creation of more inclusive and transparent systems, addressing issues like corruption and inefficiency while promoting long-term societal well-being.
