Event co-organized by CAFRAD, SMIAFRICA Label, the International Center for Media and Development Studies (CIEMD), and Innovatics Academy (Atlanta, USA)
Rabat, September 25, 2025
The African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD), in partnership with SMIAFRICA, the International Center for Media and Development Studies (CIEMD), and the Innovatics Academy of Atlanta (USA), extends its warm congratulations to all stakeholders for the successful training session held on the theme: “Press and Institutional Communication in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
Held in person on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at CAFRAD’s headquarters in Rabat, the session brought together media professionals, institutional communication officers, and executives from both the public and private sectors. It was notably marked by the participation of Professor Mohamed MADWANI, an expert in artificial intelligence and data science at Innovatics Academy (Atlanta, USA).
This initiative is part of a broader effort for inter-institutional cooperation aimed at supporting Africa’s digital transition and strengthening the skills of communication professionals in the face of major technological shifts.
As emphasized by Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI, Director General of CAFRAD, the choice of theme responds to two critical needs:
- The rapid global rise of artificial intelligence, including in Africa;
- The urgent need to train media professionals on the challenges, risks, and opportunities linked to this technology.
Designed to meet international standards, this high-level training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge of AI applications in the media sector: automated content production, combating misinformation, and ethical concerns related to the accuracy of published information.
Through this initiative, the organizers reaffirm their commitment to supporting African institutions in the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, grounded in ethical values and serving the sustainable development of the continent.
