A strategic partnership to accelerate the digital transformation of the health sector in Africa
In an ambitious pan-African dynamic, the African Centre for Administrative Training and Development Research (CAFRAD), a pan-African intergovernmental organization, and the Moroccan Society of Digital Health (SMSD) signed on July 29, 2025, in Rabat, a Memorandum of Understanding, sealing a strategic partnership in favor of the digital transformation of the health sector in Africa. This partnership aims to drive a pan-African momentum to modernize the health sector through digital transformation. It is based on a shared vision of governance, scientific research, and technological innovation. Both institutions intend to mobilize their respective expertise in the service of sustainable development in Africa.
The signing of this Memorandum marks the beginning of a multidimensional collaboration between a pan-African intergovernmental organization recognized for public governance and a pioneering Moroccan scientific society in the field of digital health. Together, the two entities commit to co-construct an innovative ecosystem combining scientific research, artificial intelligence, institutional cooperation, and technological development in service of public health.
Among the flagship actions planned within this partnership is the 3rd edition of the Global Summit of Digital Health – HealthTech 2026, which will be held in Rabat in February 2026. This summit will bring together public decision-makers, researchers, health professionals, and industry players around the challenges of artificial intelligence in the health sector. It will offer a pan-African platform for exchange and strategic reflection on the digital challenges of the sector across the continent.
By joining their forces, the African Centre for Administrative Training and Development Research (CAFRAD) and the Moroccan Society of Simulation in Health and Development (SMSD) reaffirm their shared commitment to the development of the health sector in Africa, highlighting digital health as a strategic lever for sustainable development and social inclusion at the continental level.
