Youth Day in the Kingdom of Morocco: Investing in youth—the most precious human capital for building Africa’s future

On the occasion of Youth Day, celebrated annually on August 21, Dr. Coffi Dieudonné Assouvi, Director General of the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD), extends—on his own behalf and on behalf of the entire CAFRAD staff—his warmest congratulations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco—may God assist Him—on His birthday, as well as to the Royal Family and the entire Moroccan people.
Celebrated on August 21, Youth Day coincides with the birthday of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, lending the day special symbolic significance. It serves as an occasion to honor Moroccan youth and reaffirm the central role they play in building the Kingdom’s future.
Since His accession to the glorious Throne, His Majesty King Mohammed VI—may God grant Him victory—has consistently emphasized that the Kingdom’s development relies above all on harnessing human capital, which is considered the Nation’s true wealth. In several of His speeches, the Sovereign has stressed the need to invest in education, training, innovation, scientific research, and youth skills development, enabling young people to participate fully in Morocco’s economic, social, and institutional progress. This strategic vision positions youth as a key player in the country’s modernization and the consolidation of its sustainable development.
This vision resonates particularly strongly across the African continent. With a predominantly young population, Africa possesses exceptional human potential. By investing in skills development, entrepreneurship, digital technologies, and innovation, African countries can transform this demographic potential into a genuine engine for growth, competitiveness, and good governance.
In a landscape shaped by profound technological shifts, the digital transformation of public administrations, artificial intelligence, and the imperatives of sustainable development, young people represent a strategic resource for driving institutional reforms and enhancing the quality of public services. Their creativity, dynamism, and adaptability are vital assets in building public administrations that are more efficient, transparent, and responsive to citizens.
As a Pan-African intergovernmental organization dedicated to capacity building within public administrations, CAFRAD places human capital development at the heart of its mission. Through its programs in training, research, policy dialogue, and the sharing of best practices, the Centre supports African states in preparing a new generation of public officials capable of meeting the challenges of governance, innovation, and sustainable development.
On this auspicious occasion, the Director General of CAFRAD reaffirms that investing in youth is one of the most strategic choices for Africa’s future. He encourages governments and public institutions to persist in their efforts to promote quality education, training aligned with labor market needs, entrepreneurship, innovation, and greater youth participation in public life.
On the occasion of this dual celebration—Youth Day and the birthday of His Majesty King Mohammed VI—the Director General of CAFRAD extends his sincerest congratulations to His Majesty, wishing Him health, happiness, and a long life. It also extends its warmest wishes for peace, stability, prosperity, and continued progress to the Kingdom of Morocco.
CAFRAD wishes a wonderful Youth Day to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco—may God assist Him—to the Royal Family, and to the entire Moroccan people, while paying tribute to the youth of Morocco and Africa, whose talent, commitment, and spirit of innovation form the foundation of a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for the continent.
