On August 3, 2026, the Republic of Niger will commemorate the 66^th anniversary of its attainment of national sovereignty. It was in 1960, under the leadership of President Hamani Diori, that the country proclaimed its independence from France, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its institutional history.

This date holds dual significance for the people of Niger; since 1975, it has coincided with National Tree Day, serving as a key moment for civic mobilization in the fight against desertification and standing as a powerful symbol for a country facing the climatic challenges of the Sahel.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the Director-General of the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD), Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI, extends his warm congratulations to His Excellency the President of the Republic and Head of State, the Government, the people of Niger, and the country’s authorities. As a member state, Niger remains a committed partner in the administrative cooperation and capacity-building initiatives driven by the Organization across the continent.
