Congratulatory Message from CAFRAD on the Occasion of the Independence Day of the Gabonese Republic – August 17, 2026

On the occasion of the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the Gabonese Republic’s accession to international sovereignty on August 17, 2026, the Director-General of the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD), Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI, and the entire staff extend their warm and sincere congratulations—along with their best wishes for peace, stability, prosperity, and continued progress—to His Excellency the President of the Republic (Head of State), the Government, the institutions of the Republic, and the people of Gabon.
CAFRAD notes with keen interest the theme chosen for this year’s celebrations: “Harnessing National Independence through the Promotion of Local Products and Know-How,” with the Independence Fair taking place from August 14 to 19, 2026, at the Sino-Gabonese Friendship Stadium in the commune of Akanda. This theme reflects an ambitious vision based on strengthening economic sovereignty, valuing national heritage, supporting local production, and promoting the skills, innovation, and excellence of the women and men of Gabon. It also serves as a reminder that the sustainable development of the African continent relies on high-performing public administrations, inclusive public policies, and the enhanced mobilization of national resources and talent.
As a Pan-African institution dedicated to capacity building in public administration and the promotion of good governance, CAFRAD commends this strategic direction, which highlights the pivotal role of local know-how in value creation, economic development, youth employment, entrepreneurship, and the resilience of African economies. On this auspicious and highly symbolic occasion, CAFRAD takes pride in the cooperative and trusting relationship it shares with the Gabonese Republic, one of the Organization’s founding member states. CAFRAD reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of institutional capacities and public administration innovation, as well as promoting effective governance that serves citizens and fosters sustainable development in both Gabon and the African continent.
CAFRAD extends its warmest congratulations once again to His Excellency the President of the Republic and Head of State, the Government, and the people of Gabon. It fervently hopes that this Independence Day inspires a renewed commitment to the homeland among all citizens, ensuring that the Gabonese Republic continues its journey toward greater peace, unity, prosperity, and prominence.
CAFRAD wishes the Gabonese Republic a wonderful Independence Day.
