Roundtable of Member States, Partners, and Donors of the Renovated CAFRAD: A Key Milestone for the Development of Public Administration in Africa

Rabat, 27/02/2025, 2 p.m. at the CAFRAD Headquarters – The Pan-African Intergovernmental Organization, CAFRAD, is hosting its first in-person event since the appointment of its new Director General, Dr. Coffi Dieudonné ASSOUVI: the Roundtable of Strategic Partners. This event will bring together member states, partners, and donors. This event marks a decisive step in the transformation process of CAFRAD, which, since its creation in 1962, has worked towards the development of the skills of senior African officials in public administration and the transformation of African governance.

A Framework to Shape the Future of Public Administration in Africa:

The roundtable aims to rehabilitate and strengthen the visibility of the Organization in its host country, across Africa, and even globally, while restoring the trust of member states and institutional partners. The roundtable will highlight the main strategic directions of CAFRAD’s renewed vision, under the leadership of its new Director General, elected in July 2024. The Director General will present an ambitious action plan to modernize and make CAFRAD even more effective, addressing the current challenges of public governance on the African continent, particularly in the context of major structural reforms and digital and ecological transitions.

Indispensable Support for Africa’s Major Goals:

At the heart of the discussions, the strategic objectives of the renovated CAFRAD will be emphasized, including innovative financing for its activities and the mobilization of new partners to support its essential mission for sustainable development and regional integration. With 63 years of experience, CAFRAD has developed undeniable expertise in training African leaders and reforming public administrations.

The roundtable will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including Ministers from member states, Ambassadors, Representatives of international and regional institutions, as well as private and academic actors. They will have the opportunity to contribute to the improvement of CAFRAD’s renewed roadmap.

Key Challenges for a Renovated CAFRAD:

During this event, several sub-themes will be addressed, including the global transformation needed to face the current challenges of African public administrations and the new requirements for the training of public decision-makers and future leaders. The renovated CAFRAD aims to be a center of excellence and a training school to support the deep transformations of African public administrations.

With its expertise, CAFRAD aims to regain its position as a leader in training and research for the modernization of public administration in Africa. Its transformation project emphasizes the need for strengthened international cooperation and innovative financing to face the major challenges of tomorrow.
